Adoption is the legal process by which a transfer is made of parental rights from the biological parents of a child and the legal assumption of parental rights by the adoptive parents. The adoption process terminates, once and for all, the rights and responsibilities of the biological parents. It will then become the responsiblity of the adoptive parent(s) to provide for the supervision, nurturing, physical and emotional health and financial support of the child(ren).
